More Regional Carriers Nab the iPhone

iPhone 4S C Spire

Regional carriers nTelos Wireless and Cellcom are the latest to nab Apple's iPhone.

The iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 will be available via Virginia-based nTelos starting April 20. The 16GB iPhone 4S will retail for $149.99, the 32GB will be $249.99, and the 64GB model will be $349.99. The fourth-gen iPhone 4 will be available for just $49.99.

The Apple smartphones will be available in nTelos retail stores, online at ntelos.com, and via telesales. Customers can sign up to be reminded when the devices are available.

"As a wireless service provider well-known for delivering the best value in wireless, we're pleased to offer the amazing new iPhone 4S to our customers," Jim Hyde, president and CEO for nTelos Wireless, said in a statement. "iPhone 4S offers an abundance of new features, and with our industry-leading, nationwide smartphone plans, customers can now enjoy the nation's best networks for less."

Cellcom, meanwhile, which provides wireless service in Michigan and Wisconsin, will also offer the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 at the same price points.

"The demand for iPhone is incredible, and our customers have been asking us for this amazing device," said Patrick Riordan, Cellcom CEO. "We are thrilled to be able to deliver iPhone 4S to our customers on our renowned network."

Users can sign up to be notified when the smartphone arrives in its stores. More details about Cellcom's iPhone service plans are available on its website.

Cellcom and nTelos join fellow regional carrier C Spire, which started selling the iPhone on Nov. 11. The popular Apple smartphone is also available via AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint. T-Mobile is the lone holdout among the big four carriers in the U.S., thanks to a technology issue.

"Ultimately, it is Apple's decision. The issue remains that Apple has not developed a version of the iPhone with technology that works on our fast 3G and 4G networks," Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president of marketing for T-Mobile, said in an October statement.
