The iPhone continues to be the top seller at the nation's major carriers - except T-Mobile, which hasn't yet managed to land the Apple smartphone.

In a note to clients cited by AllThingsD, analyst firm Canaccord Genuity said that the iPhone outsold all others st AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. The Samsung Galaxy S II topped the list at T-Mobile.

Canaccord Genuity based its list on "checks" at the carriers, rather than publicly provided data. However, Sprint has said that it sold 1.8 million iPhones, while AT&T activated 7.6 million iPhones.

According to the list (provided below) the year has been kind to Samsung's Galaxy S II, which filled the second spot at AT&T and Sprint which carried the iPhone during Dec. 2011, plus January and February. At Verizon, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus proved to be the runner up, giving way to the Droid RAZR MAXX during February and March. For its part, T-Mobile has said that it has plenty of satisfactory alternatives to the iPhone.

According to Gartner, Apple overtook Samsung as the world's top smartphone maker last quarter. Apple sold 35.5 million iPhones in the fourth quarter, a 23.8 percent increase from a year ago, while Samsung sold 34 million, Gartner said.

The iPhone keeps achieving new records, most recently topping sales lists in Japan. Back in 2008, Apple teamed up with Best Buy to start peddling more iPhones, and it seems the partnership is paying off. In March, new data revelaed that Best Buy sells almost as many iPhones as Apple itself, research from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners showed.
