Lenovo Unleashes Upgraded ThinkStation 30 Line

Lenovo ThinkStation D30

Lenovo has announced its newest workstation PCs, with three new members of the ThinkStation line—the ThinkStation S30, C30 and D20—equipped with Intel Xeon E5 processors and designed to meet the heavy demands of engineers, animators, and science and finance applications.

In addition to the new powerful processors, these ThinkStation PCs benefit from faster memory and improved energy efficiency.

The Lenovo ThinkStation workstations come with a choice of the latest Intel Xeon E5 1600/2600 multi-core processors, with support for up to 256 GB of 1,600MHz DDR3 memory. Graphics support is similarly bolstered with professional-grade Nvidia Quadro graphics cards and Maximus support using Nvidia Tesla compute cards, which allows simultaneous design and simulation, a feat beyond the capability of traditional workstations. With comprehensive ISV certification, Lenovo claims these tools will function flawlessly and produce error-free results.

The new ThinkStations also get an efficiency boost, with Energy Star 5.2 certification, an 80 Plus Gold power supply, and up to 90 percent power efficiency. In addition to more efficient power usage, the ThinkStation design incorporates an exterior made of up to 65-percent recycled material.

Lenovo ThinkStation C30
The Lenovo ThinkStation C30 is the most compact of the new workstations, designed with financial services, CAD and digital content creation in mind. Featuring two Intel Xeon E5 2600 processors with 128GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, and up to either a single Nvidia Quadro 6000 or dual Nvidia Quadro 5000 graphics. Lenovo bills it as "the world's smallest dual-CPU design," touting the fact that it's small enough to fit up to 14 of the compact workstations into a 42U rack, or four beneath a standard trading floor desk. The ThinkStation C30 also gets faster data transfer with USB 3.0, and stays extra cool with Lenovo's tri-channel cooling technology. The Lenovo ThinkStation C30 starts at $1,399 and will be available starting April 9.

Lenovo ThinkStation D30
For heavy duty computing, like 3D animation and design, intense number crunching, and software development, the ThinkStation D30 brings to bear up to eight-core Intel Xeon E5 2600 processors, two Nvidia Quadro 6000 cards, and up to 16 DIMMS with 1,600 MHz memory performance. Like the ThinkStation C30, the D30 offers tri-channel cooling to quietly keep the twin processors at their most efficient. A tool-less interior lets you maintain and upgrade key components easily, while a 1120W power supply provides all the power you'll need. The whole machine is quiet, with a maximum operating noise level of 24 decibels. Like the C30, the ThinkStation D30 will be available April 9th, with a starting price of $1,549.

Lenovo ThinkStation S30
For a balance of value and performance, the mid-range ThinkStation S30 offers workstation performance for considerably less than its siblings. The S30 comes with a single Intel Xeon E5 1600/2600 processor, but supports Nvidia discrete graphics, including Maximus with Quadro and Tesla configurations. With ISV certification, faster USB 3.0 transfer speeds, and up to 128GB memory, the ThinkStation S30 offers the workstation power needed for 2D and 3D content creation, as well as finance and medical professionals, but not the overwhelming dual-CPU horsepower of the C30 and D30 models. The most affordable of the bunch, the Lenovo ThinkStation S30 starts at $1,029, and will be available starting April 9.

All of the above Lenovo ThinkStation models will be available for order through Lenovo as well as regular Lenovo sales representatives and business partners.
