Google's Project Glass; Sprint Unveils HTC EVO 4G LTE; Yahoo Layoffs

Google Project Glass

Google had the tech world talking on Wednesday after providing a sneak peek at Project Glass, an effort to replace the smartphone with glasses that can beam texts, emails, music, weather, and more directly to your field of vision. The effort, which is still in the planning stages, comes from Google X, a secret lab of future products first unveiled in November.

Meanwhile, Sprint announced the HTC EVO 4G LTE, one of the first smartphones to support the carrier's LTE network, as well as the first LTE device to sport the EVO brand. PCMag got some hands-on time with the device yesterday. For more, see Sprint Brings HD Voice Calls to U.S. With EVO 4G LTE and Why HTC's EVO 4G LTE Isn't an HTC One X.

And in other news, Yahoo announced that it will eliminate about 2,000 jobs in a move intended to "reshape" the struggling Internet firm. Yahoo said the move will result in annual savings of about $375 million.
